Fashion from the hearts

A touch of sartorial elegance was in evidence at the 'Citycell Young Designer Exhibition 2004', held at the WVA gallery recently. Talent and creativity came together to make for a rewarding experience for the spectators.

The Eid designs at the exhibition were crafted by 16 young designers. These professionals had earlier taken part in a workshop organised by promising designer Sharukh Shahid. This exhibition followed in the footsteps of the workshop.

Among the trendy designs were sari, salwar kamiz, punjabi, fatua, tops and children's clothes made of eye-catching avant-garde fabric with glitter work and hand embroidery, the traditional heavy zardosi work and the very common block print. SM Rana, an upcoming designer and one of the participants, said, ' These designs are from the depths of our hearts and almost 1200 designs are being displayed in the exhibition.' Eva, another designer said, 'I am very much traditional and I used jamdani motifs in most of my designs.'

True to the designers' promise, elegance and simplicity were in evidence. Altogether it was an extremely impressive display and credit goes to all the designers for their creativity.
