2 aides to 'Kala' Jahangir nabbed

Police arrested two alleged accomplices of top criminal 'Kala' Jahangir with firearms in the early hours yesterday after a shootout for half an hour in Mirpur. Jamirul alias Jamal, 23, and Akash, 28, received bullets while Sub-Inspector (SI) Aziz and Constable Anjel of Kafrul Police Station were injured during the shootout. SI Aziz along with his team raided Aria Fuel Station in Mirpur at around 3:45am when the two criminals opened fire at them. "The police returned fire to defend themselves and arrested the two with one pistol, one revolver and eight bullets from their possession after a 30-minute bullet trades," duty officer of Kafrul Police Station said. The arrested were involved in the November 1 incident at the fuel station in which extortionists shot a guard and blasted bombs, Kafrul police said.
