CU meet today to find new chief of special committee

An emergency meeting of Chittagong University (CU) syndicate today takes place to appoint a new chief of the special committee formed earlier to work out a way of cancelling doctored certificates."This syndicate meeting's only agenda is to choose a senior teacher as the committee chief," VC Prof AJM Nuruddin Chowdhury told The Daily Star yesterday. Functioning of the five-member committee will remain unchanged and it will have to submit its report by December 23, he added. The meeting will start at 12noon at the vice-chancellor's office and appoint the new chief on preference of the maximum of syndicate members, the VC said. The post fell vacant Sunday after resignation of committee chief Prof Dr Md Abdul Hakim of political science department.
