Upul cleared to tour NZ

Sri Lanka leg-spinner Upul Chan-dana has been given the all-clear to tour New Zealand after medical tests in Singapore.

Chandana had complained of breathing difficulties during Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan in October.

"Sri Lanka Cricket is pleased to inform that Upul Chandana has been cleared by doctors," Sri Lanka Cricket said in a brief statement on Monday.

There had been fears that Chandana may miss Sri Lanka's tour of New Zealand, which starts on December 21, leaving Rangana Herath as the only specialist spinner in the training pool.

Sri Lanka's selectors will pick the touring squad shortly after the return of Marvan Atapattu from a holiday in Australia.
