Rawshan meets PM, promises all-out support

A 13-member delegation of the Jatiya Party (Ershad), led by its parliamentary party chief Rawshan Ershad, yesterday met Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and exchanged views with her on the country's prevailing political situation.Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Prime Minister's Political Secretary Harris Chowdhury said the JP members expressed satisfaction with the improvement of law and order and assured their all-out cooperation in maintaining peace. During the meeting, which is part of prime minister's interactions with the members of parliament, the JP members appreciated the quick arrest of price spirals caused by the devastating floods. They thanked the prime minister for the post-flood rehabilitation programmes taken by the government. The opposition members lauded other steps of the government that ensured a "peaceful and congenial atmosphere" during the Eid and Durga Puja. They noted with satisfaction the efficient handling of the situation during the just concluded Biswa Ijtema. Referring to the improvement of law and order and the development programmes taken all over the country, the prime minister said the welfare of the country takes preference over anything else in their politics. "The development programmes of the government are designed for balanced development irrespective of the elected representatives of the area," she told the JP lawmakers. The parliamentary party delegation included Moshiur Rahman, TIA Fazley Rabbi, Karimuddin Bharsha, Tajul Islam, Hafizuddin, AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Mojibur Rahman, Golam Habib Dulal, Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Ali, M Solaiman and Motiur Rahman.
