Leonine Chess Club stayed on course for clinching the Dutch-Bangla First Division Chess League title when the last year's runners-up routed Friends Chess Power 4-0 at the Chess Federation hall room yesterday.After 12 rounds, Leonine stretched their collection to 45.5 points, 4.5 points clear from nearest contenders Muktijoddha Sangsad. Holders Bangladesh Biman are still third with 37.5 points. Local Grand Master Niaz Murshed opted out of the 12th round game but his replacement Rafiqul Islam beat Din Mohammad Swapan easily after their foreign trio had won their respective matches. GM Dao Thein Hai beat Mohammad Ali, GM Iuldashev Saidali defeated Delwar Hossain and GM Nguyen Anh Dung checkmated Alimul Haque Kazal for the league leaders. Muktijoddha beat Dhaka University 4-0 with GM Ni Hua beating Uten, GM Igor Rausis defeating Hasan Imam, FM Khondokar Aminul Islam winning over Ariful Islam and FM Abu Sufian Shakil outplaying Shamim Akand. Biman's poor run continued as they managed a narrow 2.5-1.5 victory against Star Vision. GM Ziaur Rahman beat Hafizul Islam Chapal, IM Abdullah Al Rakib beat Mojibur Rahman while Star Vision's Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan upset Biman's FM Rezaul Haque. Imran Ali (Biman) drew Nazrul Islam Delu in the other board. In other matches, Narayanganj City Chess Club beat Destiny 2000 3-1, Bangladesh Ansar beat BM Uttaradhikari Sangsad 4-0, Anushilon beat Titas Club 4-0, Sonali Bank beat Mohakhali Pradip Sangha 2.5 1.5 and Rajshahi Daba Unnayan Sangastha beat Farashganj 4-0.
