Linking roads

The City Corporation deserves kudos for their recent initiatives in beautification and improvement of city roads. However, in order to overcome the ever-growing traffic menace, linking different roads remains one of the answers. I would like to draw the attention of the city fathers towards construction and improvement of some important link roads. These include:

*Allowing vehicles to ply through BDR (from Jhikatola to Peelkhana). If vehicles can ply through cantonment areas, there is no reason why vehicles cannot move through BDR. This will greatly benefit the people and save lot of time.

*Shat Raster Moar to Kazi Nazrul Islam Road (Airport Road). Already a road exists occupied by truck stand, which would require re-location.

*Continuation of Mohakhali Flyover Road to Rokeya Sharani through the Parade Ground. (The road may be closed for the purpose of parade on specific days of the year).

*Re-location of Kamalapur Railway station to Joydevpur and converting the existing rail track to highway from Airport to Kamalapur.

*Improvement and widening of existing link road from Bangla Motor to Green Road through Kathal bagan.

*Construction of new link road from Shaheed Tajuddin Road (Tongi Diversion Road) to Kazi Nazrul Islam Road (Airport Road) through Tejgaon Industrial area.

*Vehicles should be allowed to ply through cantonment areas as before. It has greatly benefited the people in the past. The recent decision to prohibit the normal traffic flow has only increased the problem manifold. Plying of vehicles (buses and trucks) may be restricted.

*Construction of road from Karwan Bazaar to Gulshan through Hatir Jheel.

*Construction and improvement of road from Ramna Star Gate to Notre Dame College should be completed immediately.
