JS team starts assessing CHT situation


Visiting parliamentary team yesterday met with political leaders, government officials and NGO representatives in Khagrachhari to assess law and order situation and make future plans for betterment of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) people.

The team led by BNP MP Mosharraf Hossain held another meeting with representatives from ethnic groups, political parties and members of civil society.

Earlier, they visited sites of several development projects under the Sadar Upazila, being implemented by the CHT Development Board.

Today the team will arrive in Rangamati, visit some sites under United Nations Development Programme, and hold talks with leaders of indigenous people and Bangalees.

The team will sit in a separate meeting with Parbatya Chattagram Jono Sanghati Samity Chief Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma alias Santu Larma.

A meeting on recent law and order will also be held at the Deputy Commissioner's office.
