The wicket a letdown
Sports Reporter from Ctg
Both Bangladesh and India had expressed their desires after the first Test in Dhaka of playing on the same type of surface in Chittagong. But the MA Aziz Stadium wicket was heartbreakingly flat and frustrated the home side no ends especially because they had included three pacers hoping to rattle the Indian batting with the new ball. "It was a dead wicket for seam bowlers. Actually we wanted the same kind of bounce like we had in Dhaka which helped our pace bowlers but the Chittagong track has been very disappointing," said a Bangladesh cricketer. The three quick men toiled all day without any assistance and century maker Rahul Dravid was also found sympathetic towards their plight. "The bowlers were really helpless on this kind of a pitch and it is difficult to dismiss any batsman after he had settled down in the middle," said Dravid before sounding an ominous warning. "But I believe Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh will get good support from this pitch because I have already spotted some cracks in it," said the champion right-hander.
