Hayet Ullah attacked his son Ashraful Alam with a boti (a curved machete used in kitchen) at their house in Gazipara, Uttarkhan at around 1:30pm.

Neighbours rushed to the scene immediately and caught Hayet with the bloodstained boti and handed him over to police.

Police said Hayet, caretaker of the house owned by one Babul Rahman, seemed to be mentally ill.
