ACC official asked not to speak to press

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Anti Corruption Commission, whose job is to provide information to the public and the media, has been ordered not to speak to the press.

ACC Chairman Justice Sultan Hossain Khan appointed Khan Mohammad Mizanul Islam,

an official of the now defunct bureau of anti-corruption, as the PRO in late November. He was especially assigned to establish and maintain relationship with the press.

The ACC top brass have always encouraged journalists to contact the newly appointed PRO for information. But on Tuesday, ACC Director (administration) Lt Col Hannan Mridha in a letter asked Khan Mohammad Mizanul Islam to refrain from speaking to the press.

The letter also stated that the PRO would need to take permission from the commission before talking to the newsmen.
