Cold wave kills 8 in Barisal


Cold wave claimed at least eight lives in Barisal division in last four days.

The victims are Syed Abul Bashar, 65, of Nathoi village and Mansur Sarder, 55, of Nagarbari village in Agailjhara upazila; Dhiren Boiragi ,60, of Uttar Goila village and Bashar, 56, of Bakal village in Agailjhara upazila; Lalmoti Begum, 60, of Laxmipur village in Bhandaria upazila; Bikash Debnath ,59, of Baishari village in Banaripara upazila; Jiten Baroi, 68, of Nowmala village in Bauphal upazila, Rahela Begum, 65, of Chandpasha village in Babujong upazila.

The Bariasl weather office recorded the lowest temperature at 8.5 degree Celsius on Thursday morning and 10.5 degree Celsius in the evening.

The cold wave sweeping the country is disrupting normal in the region. Roads in the city became almost deserted within 2-3 hours of sunset. Dense fog delays movement of vehicles and vessels. The fog continues late in the morning.
