Another held in Banshkhali carnage


Another accused in the brutal Banshkhali carnage, which left 11 members of a minority family burnt alive over a year ago, was arrested yesterday.

Acting on leads from Kamal Uddin alias Dula Mia, another accused who had been held earlier, Banshkhali police in a raid on Munshipara of Dongra arrested Aminul Haq alias Aminya, 35, at around noon.

Apart from the Banskhali carnage case, Aminya stands accused in six other cases for murder, women repression and carrying illegal arms.

Meanwhile, Dula had made a confessional statement detailing the brutal incident and divulging names of the persons involved, sources said.

With the latest arrest, 13 out of 18 accused in Banshkhali carnage have been arrested so far.

Eleven people including women and children were burnt dead when a band of terrorists set fire to a house belonging to a minority family of Tejendra Shushil at Shilpapa under Sadhanpur union of Banshkhali upazila on November 19, 2003.
