'Tigers deserved win over India'

Indian chief selector Kiran More highly praised Bangladesh's performance in the second one-dayer against the Sourav Ganguly's men, which the Tigers won by 15 runs at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

"Bangladesh deserved that win. That was Bangladesh's day and full credit goes to them," said the former Indian stumper on Monday.

More, who represented India in 49 Tests and 94 one-day internationals during 80s and 90s, said that he was impressed with the bowling but emphasised the need for solid batting to make a competitive side.

"Bangladesh have to gain the ability of scoring 350-plus runs to win Test matches. Two hundred or 250 is not a fighting score, at least 400 runs are needed for a win at Test level," he said.

More came to Dhaka to help select an Asian XI to play the World XI in a benefit match for tsunami victims, to be held on January 10 in Melbourne.

On Bangladesh's recent performance, More said: "They played really well against India. They showed signs of improvement, especially in the one-dayers. Bangladesh's bowling performance is good. There have some promising bowlers," he added.
