BDR vigilant
Smuggling of Indian cattle down

Smuggling of Indian cattle has decreased due to constant vigilance of the members of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in the border areas.

Change in attitude of importers also led to the situation.

According to BDR sources, at present most of the cattle traders show interest in importing Indian cattle legally through corridors in the northwestern border instead of smuggling in. The corridors are situated at Khanpur border in Sadar upazila, Koira border under Panchbibi upazila in Joypurhat, Harinmari border under Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon and Islampur border under Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district.
