'Listed criminal' escapes from custody

A handcuffed 'listed criminal' and alleged drug trader escaped from police custody in the district on Monday. Sources said police arrested Rassel from Talipara area of the city at about 11am. Russel jumped from the police van when it started for Sadar police station and ran away. Police failed to nab him again. Police said Rassel was a drug trader and accused in several cases filed with the Sadar thana. Earlier, Russel was arrested by Rab (Rapid Action Battalion). He was released on bail.
