Of movies and the battle for Fallujah
Obaidur Rahman Gopibag, Dhaka
It's been going on for more than 20 years. The story has always been the same. American soldiers will get involved in some shameful military operation (like they are doing in Iraq) and it will be the job of Hollywood to cover up their muck by making some movies on such American heroism (!). And what is most disturbing about this is the ill portrayal of Muslim characters and the framing of Islam.Very strangely American media, for an awfully long period of time, has been hyperactive when it comes to broadcasting information on the Muslim world. And the consequence of this relay is the misinterpretation of Islam's message and the dishonour of Muslims all around the globe. In numerous Hollywood movies Muslims had been projected as terrorists who have nothing else to do but to plant a bomb here and there that harms US interests. But everywhere around the globe the American government has conducted unlawful military operations and when people of those countries tried to defend themselves they were labelled as terrorists and extremists. And what Hollywood does is that it makes a movie that violates truth and preaches propaganda all around the globe just to cover up America's transgression. And the latest of this list of films is a movie called "The Battle for Fallujah", based on the second battle of Fallujah, which will go to production this year. Undoubtedly, it will be a movie that will cover up all the genocide, rape and murder committed by the US military and an ill depiction of the gallant Iraqi Mujaheedin and their glorious sacrifices. When will the US come to senses and stop spreading this propaganda against Muslims ?
