Vow to bring war criminals to justice

Activists of Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee marked its 13th founding anniversary by taking a fresh vow to bring the war criminals of 1971 to justice at any cost.

At a meeting on Tuesday, they called on all to unite to topple the government as the war criminals are strengthening their position with the support of the four-party ruling alliance.

It is a matter of great regret that the people who fought for the independence of the country risking their lives are being deprived while the war criminals are enjoying all state facilities, said poet Shamsur Rahman, former president of the committee.

"We must overthrow the war criminals from the power and bring them to justice," he added.

Hasanul Haque Inu, president of Jatiya Samajtrantik Dal, said, "Forgiving the war criminals was a wrong political decision and giving them a chance to take office was a political deception on a grand scale, for which the nation is still suffering."

He alleged that the government wants to establish a 'Talibani state' by patronising the communal forces.

He also called for forging a strong unity among the pro-liberation forces to root out the communal forces.

"It is a great shame for the nation that the war criminals have not been brought to justice as yet. Rather, they are enjoying the state power," said writer Shahriar Kabir, acting chairperson of Nirmul Committee.

Prof Kabir Chowdhury, Awami League leader Abdur Razzak, Justice KM Sobhan, Nirmul Committee General Secretary Kazi Mukul, Prof Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, and CPB General Secretary Muzahidul Islam selim also spoke.
