Shifting of railway station

Recently, I saw a news item on the government plan to shift Kamalapur railway station to Joydebpur. This is a good solution to avoid jams on the roads of Dhaka city and also to eliminate the possibility of accidents involving the high speed passenger trains passing through the city. However, I would suggest using Kamalapur railway station to carry Dhaka passengers to Joydebpur main station through local shuttle trains which should be medium speed trains.

The people of Dhaka will naturally expect that the city's main railway station at Joydebpur will be more gorgeous than Kamalapur station. If the cost is prohibitive, then we may think of alternative solutions. If the trains are made to pass through underground tunnels at each road crossing, then the Kamlapur station can stay provided the cost of such tunnels do not aggregate to more than the cost of the proposed new railway station at Joydebpur. If the costs of tunnels are too high, the building of the second railway station is most welcome because it is not unusual for a capital to have two major railway stations like "old" & "new" or "city" or "cantt" etc.

The ministry of communications which is always coming out with innovative and novel ideas may think about the underground tunnels under each road crossing or any other alternative solution which may retain Kamalapur as Dhaka's main railway station because of its location.
