Robbers gun down one in Chittagong

Robbers gunned down one person and injured two others at a house at South Hashimpur in Chandanaish upazila in the early hours of Sunday. The dead was identified as Alamgir, 25, and the injured are Laila Begum and Omar Ali of the same family. Omar was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in a critical condition. Sources said a gang of about 20 stormed into the house of one Aminur to commit robbery at about 3:00am. They opened fire when members of the family tried to resist. The robbers took away valuables including ornaments and mobile phones worth around Tk 2.5 lakh, according to a case filed with Chandanaish Police Station. Moreover, police in Banshkhali upazila recovered the decomposed body of a boy aged about six at village Banigram yesterday. A gang led by one Binod Bihari had kidnapped the boy, Rajesh Kanti Dey, son of Samiran Dey, on January 13. Samiran filed a case accusing Binod and two others including a boy. Police arrested all the three recently. The boy gave a confessional statement saying that Binod kidnapped Rajesh and later killed him. Acting on his confession, police recovered the decomposed body. A murder case was filed with Banshkhali police yesterday.
