Modhu Mela begins at Sagardari today
A seven-day Modhu Mela, begins at Sagardari village today, marking the 181st birth anniversary of great poet Michael Modhusudan Dutta. The Ministry for Cultural Affairs is arranging the fair, like in previous years. Several makeshift stalls will put on sale books and poems written by the poet and handicrafts. Cultural functions will be added attractions. The authorities have decided that unlike in previous years, gambling and vulgar programmes will not be allowed this year. Different cultural organisations and admirers of the great poet have welcomed the decision.
