Forged note trader held

A young man was caught red handed on Sunday night for alleged trading of a forged note of Tk 500 denomination from Bardal Bazar under Assassuni upazila in the district.

Two of his accomplices however managed to escape.

The arrestee was identified as Sirajul Islam, 25, son of Sobhan Ali of Kalua Dakhin Matha village under Paikgachha upazila in Khulna district.

A total of 15 forged notes of Tk 500 denomination were recovered from his possession, police said.

Quoting shopkeepers, they said three people including the arrestee bought some clothes from M/S Keya Bastra Bitan owned by one Bachhu Dewan, and gave him a note of Tk 500 denomination.

On suspicion, Bachhu called in other shopkeepers who identified the note as a forged one.

They caught Sirajul on the spot while his two accomplices Azizul and Jahan Ali of the same village fled away.

Sirajul was handed over to Assassuni Police Station.
