Two students injured in blast, bullet


A female student was injured in a bomb blast at Shahbagh while another student was shot at Rampura in the capital yesterday.

Popy Akhtar, 25, a third year undergraduate of Titumir College, was getting on a rickshaw when a stray hand-bomb blasted on her left leg at 6:30pm.

Popy was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) with splinter wounds. She left the hospital after taking first aid.

Himel alias Shuvo, 24, a fourth year student of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Krishi University, was walking home from a garage at Palashbagh when three unknown youths stopped him at 6:30pm.

After a talk, they hassled and at one point the youths shot him on the stomach. He was rushed to the DMCH.
