AL's reception to cricketers cancelled

Bangladesh Awami League (AL) has cancelled its plan to accord a civic reception to the Bangladesh cricket team for winning their maiden Test match and the Test and one-day series against Zimbabwe last month.The opposition party finished all the preparations for the February 5 reception, but the it had to call off the programme because of what the party said non- cooperation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the National Sports Council (NSC). "We requested the BCB to inform the players and bring them together for the programme. We also applied to the NSC to allot us the Paltan Maidan for this purpose. But neither BCB nor the NSC gave us any reply regarding this matter," said Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul, the Youth and Sports Secretary of AL yesterday.
