One hundred and one professionals including engineers, agriculturists and doctors yesterday protested the statement of 97 former government officials about the grenade attack on Awami League rally in Habiganj.

The statement by the former government officials was published in different dailies yesterday.

In their statement, 101 professionals alleged that those 97 officials are involved with a particular political party and it can easily be understood from their statement.

One hundred and one professionals yesterday contradicting the government officials' observations that BNP-led four-party alliance government has failed to contain a 'continuing slide in law and order across the country' said that the life under the alliance government is fully secure.

The coalition government has succeeded in eradicating crime from the country but a vested quarter is trying to undermine that success by blasting bombs and grenades in different parts of the country, said the 101 professionals.

They also said that grenade attacks on Sheikh Hasina's rally and Habiganj AL rally were part of a plot to destabilise the country.

The signatories to the statement include agriculturist Jabed Iqbal, agriculturist Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, engineers Reazul Islam Riju, Mahmudur Rahman, and Shahrin Islam Tuhin, Dr AZM Jahid Hossain, Dr Sultan Mahiuddin and Professor Abdul Haq.
