Police refuse to record GD for Bahauddin Nasim: AL

The Awami League (AL) yesterday said Dhanmondi police refused to record a general diary (GD) for issuing a threat to kill Bahauddin Nasim, president of Shech-chhasebok League, in crossfire.

On January 28, Farhad Hossain of Rajair reportedly asked to kill Nasim, putting him in crossfire, at a union-level activists' get-together attended by Tarique Rahman in Gopalganj.

AL leaders said the duty officer at the police station refused Nasim's lawyers to file the GD Thursday afternoon, saying he had instructions from higher authorities.

AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil condemned and protested the refusal.

Asked, Zafar Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Police Station, told The Daily Star yesterday, "We're not likely to record any GD or case if the incident takes place at another place."

"If anyone has threatened them, they are likely to file a GD or case at the concerned police station," he added.
