Parag takes solo lead

Mehdi Hasan Parag took a solo lead in the BASIC Bank 26th National Junior (Under-20 years) Chess Championship points table after five rounds when the defending champion defeated Mostafa at the BCF hall-room yesterday.Parag stretched his tally to five points with an all-win record while three players, with 4.5 points each, followed him in second place. They were Mohammad Ali, Nahid Parvej Sagar and Samiun Bashir. In other fifth round games, Ali drew with Parvej, Bashir drew with Mahfuz, Robin beat Sani, Liza beat Pavel, Saimon beat Tarik, Saif beat Mahmood, Evana beat Masum, Sharif beat Shiblu, Reza beat Abir, Shirin beat Hamid and Jubaer beat Pasha.
