Sisimpur : A new attraction on TV for children
Sisimpur, a new educational TV series for children, was unveiled on the production floor of Film Development Corporation (FDC) yesterday afternoon, according to a press release. Sisimpur is a Bangladeshi adaptation of the world renowned television series Sesame Street and features Bangla-speaking Muppets, animation and live-action segments. Nayantara Communications is producing the series in Bangladesh with prominent puppeteer Mostafa Monwar as its chief creative advisor. Fuad Chowdhury, executive producer of Nayantara Communications, stated that Sisimpur is a show created to entertain both adults and children.

Sisimpur depicts a suburban place in Bangladesh where the four muppets and five human characters live together in an environment of learning, caring and sharing. The four furry Muppets of Sisimpur are Halum, Shiku, Tuktuki and Ikri Mikri.

Sisimpur is sponsored by the United States Agency for International development . The programme will be aired on BTV in April, 2005 as a national half hour children's television programme with a potential audience of six to nine million preschoolers.
