Sonargaon’s promotion


Sonargaon Cricketers earned their passage to the top flight of domestic leagues when they inflicted a 37-run defeat on Jatrabari Krira Chakra in their last match of the First Division Cricket League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

with the outcome Sonargaon finished their campaign with 26 points from 17 matches to join Kalabagan Krira Chakra, who had earlier confirmed their return to the Premier League after one season.

Kalabagan also have confirmed the championship with one match still in hand against Surjo Tarun Club as they won their matches against Sonargaon and Gazi Tank.

In the day's match, Sonargaon scored 203 before being all out in 47.5 overs while Jatrabari, in reply, were bundled out for 166 in 41.5 overs.

On the other hand, Wari Club became the second team to be demoted to the Second Division League after they lost to Prantik KC by seven wickets at BKSP yesterday.

Nabin Sangha, who also suffered a seven-wicket defeat in their last game against Lalmatia Club at BKSP, were the first side to lose their place in the First Division.
