BNP MP for govt action against 2 newspapers
Staff Correspondent
A BNP lawmaker in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday demanded the government take punitive actions against two national dailies for 'peddling propaganda that a panicky situation is prevailing in the northern region'.Taking advantage of the freedom of press, the daily Prothom Alo and daily Jugantor are carrying wrong and baseless reports about law and order slide in Rajshahi and adjoining districts, said Harun-ur-Rashid. He is a lawmaker from Chapainawabganj. Raising the issue on a point of order, the lawmaker said he has recently visited the areas and found the law and order well kept. Speaker Jamiruddin Sircar however rejected the point, saying there is a provision to file complaints with the Press Council if any newspaper publishes untrue stories.
