Hasan Mia, 35, a businessman of Postogola, went out of his Faridabad house in Shyampur at 8:00pm when around five local youths stopped him.

They walked about 50 yards with him, shot him in the abdomen and ran away.

The victim's brother-in-law Delwar Hossain rushed him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where Hasan said the youths had earlier demanded Tk 10 lakh from him.

In Shahbagh, three robbers shot the three-wheeler driver, Moslem, in an effort to carjack his vehicle at around 11:00pm.

They hired the three-wheeler from Fakirapool to go to Mirpur.

Hearing the gunshot, police chased the robbers and caught two of them. Moslem was admitted to the DMCH.
