Eyewitnesses and police said, while catching fish in the river Atharo beki in the Sundarbans, a tiger swooped on the victim Abdur Rahim, 18, son of Abdul Hannan of village Sora in Shyamnagar upazila. The tiger dragged him into the deep forest. Later local people recovered the body.
