Contempt Case
Judgement against 2 dailies Monday

The High Court (HC) will deliver on Monday the judgement in the contempt case filed against two Bangla dailies for running reports on an HC additional judge's alleged tampering with his LLB results.

The HC division bench comprising Justice MA Matin and Justice AFM Abdur Rahman fixed the date yesterday on completion of hearing that began in December last year.

QC Azmalul Hossain, counsel for the petitioner, completed his submission yesterday. Barrister Tanjib-ul Alam was present for the defendants.

Earlier, Dr Kamal Hossain, Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud and Advocate Mahbube Alam finished their submission for the defendants -- editors, publishers and reporters of the Prothom Alo and the Bhorer Kagoj.

The Prothom Alo and the Bhorer Kagoj in their separate reports on October 30 last year said that Additional Judge Faisal Mahmud Faizee's LLB examination results were allegedly tampered with.

The judge's father Mohammad Faiz filed a contempt petition on November 8 against Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, Publisher Mahfuz Anam and reporters Ekramul Haque Bulbul and Masud Milad, and Bhorer Kagoj Editor Abed Khan, Publisher Saber Hossain Chowdhury and Reporter Shamaresh Baidya.
