Prof Nurul Alam of Physics and Associate Prof Kamrul Ahsan of Philosophy department have been elected unopposed president and general secretary of Jahangirnagar University Teaches Association (Juta) yesterday. A 15-member executive committee, scheduled to be elected on March 19 through polls, was declared elected unopposed. Prof Mahbub Kabir of Chemistry and Prof Dr Md Khabiruddin of Statistics were elected vice -president and joint secretary while Prof Hasina Matin as treasurer. The other members of the committee are Prof Amin Mohammad Ali, Prof Ajit Kumar, Prof Afsar Uddin, Prof Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, Prof Nasiruddin, Prof Nurul Alam Khan, Prof Suvash Chandra Das, Prof Abdul Hai, Mafruhi Sattar Titu and Nazmul Alam.
