‘Intensify agitation to oust govt'

Workers Party Politburo member Fazle Hossain Badsha called upon the people to unite and launch a tougher agitation to oust the 'failed' government.

The four party alliance government has lost people's confidence because it has failed to provide security to people's life and property and bring about development.

Ruling party men are sheltering religious extremists and criminals, he alleged. They have no right to stay in power, Badsha said addressing a regional conference of his party at Ghonokpara in the city yesterday.

He said communal and fundamentalist forces have raised their heads in the country again and urged the government to ban religion-based politics.

He also criticised the government for the "worsening" economic situation in the country because of what he called its wrong policy.

Prices of essentials are rising but there has been no new employment opportunities in the country since the government took over, he said. Many mills and factories have been closed in the last three years, he alleged.

Presided over by WP Rajsahai district General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Piyarul, the meeting was addressed by, among others, Shamsuzzoha, Motiur Rahman, Rabindra Sharan, Asraful HaqueKayes Uddin and Mosharaf Hossain.
