2 Rab men held for demanding tolls

Two members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) were arrested on Tuesday night while demanding Tk one lakh in tolls from thieves charged with stealing public trees.

The arrestees are Havilder Zakaria and Sub-Inspector (SI) Salam.

Sources said the commanding officer of Rab-6 has recovered Tk 30,000 from the arrested personnel of the anticrime elite force.

They were sent to Chuadanga Sadar Police Station on Tuesday night and produced in the court yesterday.

All Rab personnel have been withdrawn from Chuadanga. Rab officials refused to tell journalists anything in this connection.
