JU dining hall staffs call off strike

The Dining Hall Employees Association (DHEA) withdrew their three-day work abstention programme on Tuesday night following assurance from the university authority of taking necessary steps regarding their one point demand.

The DHEA enforced a three-day work abstention programme on the same day demanding immediate regularisation of their jobs.

Facing serious problems in the dining halls, the authority made a request to the leaders for calling off the strike assuring them of taking urgent initiatives to meet their demand.

Meanwhile, the university authority is planning to form a committee to scrutiny the

feasibility of regularising the job of the dining employees, sources said.
