Major police reshuffle

The home ministry yesterday transferred 23 senior cops in an effort to soup up the police administration. Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Shah Zaman Raj at Dhaka Range has been given the charge of DIG in the newly formed highway department of police while six additional superintendent of police have been asked to act as superintendent of police (SP) in different regions. Additional SP Shah Golam Mahmud at Mohalchhari has been transferred to highway department, Mostafa Kamal at Special Branch (SB) to Bagerhat, AKM Ruhul Amin at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to police headquarters, Sardar Nurul Amin at SB (city) to headquarters, Mohammad Sorwar at Gazipur to Chuadanga and Morshed Alam to highway department. Sixteen SPs or officials with equivalent rankings have also been transferred from their present posting. Alamgir Alam at SB has been transferred to police headquarters, Mahbub Alam at Bagerhat to DMP, Chowdhury Al Mamun at Nilphamari to DMP, Shoeb Ahmed (SP, Telecom) to Nilphamari, Golam Rasul at DMP to Cox's Bazar, Syed Toufik Uddin Ahmed at Cox's Bazar to police headquarters, Abdul Mannan (DC, Protection) at DMP to SB, Lutfor Rahman Mandol at DMP to Kurigram, Morshed Anwar at Kurigram to Rajbari, Motiar Rahman at Rajbari to Bogra, Kazi Mortaza at Bogra to Bhola, Aftab Ahmed at Chuadanga to Chittagong, Mahbubur Rahman at Chittagong to headquarters, Mizanur Rahman at Barisal to telecom, Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan at headquarters to Rangamati and Mahbub Hakim at headquarters to Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
