PM to open gas supply from Moulvibazar Gas Field today

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will formally inaugurate commercial extraction of gas from Moulvibazar Gas field today.

Initially, 70 million cubic feet of gas will be transmitted to the national grid from the gas field, which will be increased to 140 million within three months. This will minimise gas and electricity crises in the country, according to sources in Petrobangla.

Later on the day she will address a meeting at Moulvibazar town, where Finance Minister Saifur Rahman will also speak.

During the Prime Minister's visit, demands may be raised for establishment of an Engineering College, development of Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, re-opening of Shamshernagar Airport.
