4 killed in road accidents

Four persons, including two siblings, were killed in two separate road accidents in Natore and Comilla districts yesterday.Our RU Correspondent reports a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) and his sister were killed when they were returning home by a motorcycle. They were identified as Liton Kumar Sarker, 24, and Mukti Sarker, 16, offspring of Mukul Sarker of Chackrampur village. Sources and police said the accident took place at about 1:00pm when a Dhaka-bound truck hit their motorcycle on the highway at Gopalpur Bazar under Lalpur upazila of Natore district leaving them dead on the spot. The driver of the truck managed to escape. A case was filed in this regard with Natore police station. Meanwhile, BSS adds: two persons were killed in a separate accident when a passenger bus ran over them on the Dhaka- Chittagong highway at Miarbazar under Chouddagram upazila of Comilla district yesterday. Police sources said the Dhaka-bound bus from Chittagong rammed into a rickshaw and a bicycle killing the rickshaw-puller and the cyclist on the spot. The victims were identified as Shahabuddin, 28, and Mahin, 27. A case was filed in this connection with Chouddagram police station.
