Wright to get farewell gift from team

The Indian cricket team will gift a handcrafted crystal bar set to coach John Wright who bids farewell to his assignment after the final one-day international against Pakistan here on April 17.

The idea of presenting a gift for Wright, the former New Zealand Test star, came from Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly , Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid who played a key role in having him as coach.

The gift has been designed by a Bangalore-based firm and would cost nearly 60,000 rupees.

The set, complete with decanter and peanut bowls, will have an attractive package made in Jaipur.

Under Wright, who joined as India coach in 2000, the team won 20 of its 52 Tests, lost 16 and drew as many.
