Senior Vice-President of Khulna city BNP and President of Dakkhin Banga Sarok Paribahan Malik-Sramik Oikya Parishad Alhaj Abdul Gaffar Biswas joined JP accusing BNP of politicising administration, judiciary and academic institutions. He also accused BNP of harbouring criminals and anti-liberation forces.

JP Chairman HM Ershad was present during the joining ceremony in the party central office in Dhaka.

Gaffar assured Ershad, other important leaders of Khulna city and district BNP will join JP abandoning BNP.

Gaffar joined BNP before the 1996 parliamentary elections. He was elected a member of parliament (MP) from Khulna-3 (Khalishpur-Daulatpur) constituency with JP ticket in 1988.
