According to sources in the district administration, hospital and local people, two persons were killed and 20 workers of a brick field injured at about 3-30 pm when they were hit by lightning at Lawkhati village in Sadar upazila.

The dead victims are Sattar, 40, of Moukaran and Eusuf, 35, of village Telekhali in the upazila. The injured persons were admitted to Patuakhali General Hospital.

Altaf Molla, 40, of village Itbaria in Sadar upazila was killed by lightning at about 4 pm when he was returning home from the field.

Champa, 16, daughter of Samsu Bayati of village Srirampur was killed by lightning at about 5 pm when she was working at the court yard of her house. Puspa Rani, 20, of village Alipura was killed by lightning at about 4-30 pm when she was working at the courtyard of her house.
