Customs staff found dead at ZIA

The police yesterday recovered the body of a customs employee from the roof of the customs office at the Zia International Airport in the capital.The dead was identified as Manindra Chandra Das, 35, a fourth-class employee of the customs department. A sweeper found the body of Manindra hanging from a satellite antenna on the roof of the four-storey customs building at around 8:00am. Informed, the Airport police recovered the body at 8:30am and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy. The police said the neck of the body was tied with a wire and it had started decomposing. Modhusudan, Manindra's younger brother, told reporters at the DMCH that Manindra went out of his civil aviation quarters at 7:00am on Tuesday and was missing since then. The family had no clue to the sudden death. Meanwhile Roksana, 18, a garment factory worker, was killed in a road accident in the Cantonment area of the city. A bus hit her at 7:30am when she was crossing a road near the Cantonment bus stand, said witnesses. She died on the spot.
