BSTI realises Tk 23.21 lakh in fines


The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in Chittagong realised Tk 23.21 lakh in fines, identifying adulterated and substandard goods and cheating in weight during the last nine months as of March.

The fine was realised through mobile courts and surveillance teams.

The BSTI also filed 549 cases and cancelled licences of two industrial units during the period.

The figures were revealed at a meeting of the BSTI officials and employees at its zonal office in Chittagong on Friday. Industries Minister Matiur Rahman Nizami was present as chief guest.
