The prisoner was identified as Aftab Uddin, 35, son of Mozahar Sheikh of Hajrakati village under Tala upazila.

Quoting jail authorities police said, the prisoner was arrested on March 28 in connection with a case filed with Tala thana and he was sent to jail.

As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Satkhira Hospital at around 8:00am yesterday where the doctor declared him dead.
