Rocca to visit Dhaka in May

US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs Christina Rocca would arrive in Dhaka in the second week of May.

"She showed her interest to visit Bangladesh this week and meet me. But since I will be in Indonesia, she is likely to arrive in the second week of next month," Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan told reporters yesterday.

This would be Rocca's first visit to Dhaka after President Bush's assumption of office for the second term.

Rocca is now visiting India and will be in Sri Lanka on April 19-20.

The US Bureau for South Asian Affairs cooperates with countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
