The Bangladesh women's football team suffered a humiliating 24-0 defeat against Japan in the first-ever Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-17 Football Championship in South Korea yesterday. The newly formed women's team opened with a 1-0 loss against Guam. They will play their last Group B match against Hong Kong on Wednesday. The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) found nothing wrong with the massive defeat rather than they were happy with the fact that the team could play a full 80 minutes in the cold weather. "Women's football in our country is five months old whereas the game in Japan has a rich history. Japan has played at the highest level (World Cup), so it is good enough that our women are playing on the international stage," said BFF general secretary Anwarul Haque Helal.
