'Scientific conservation of indigenous livestock soon'
Scientific conservation of indigenous livestock will begin in the country soon to fill up the deficiency of protein by the year 2020.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister AbdullahAl-Noman told this while addressing a national workshop as the chief guest in the city yesterday.

Jointly organised by the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) of Kenya, the workshop titled, 'Development and Application of Decision-Support Tools to Conserve and Sustainably Use Genetic Diversity in Indigenous Livestock and Wild Relatives' was held at the Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) auditorium.

The workshop was presided over by the Dean of Animal Husbandry, BAU, Prof Ahmed Ali. Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Jafar Ahmed Chowdhury, Prof M N M Ibrahim of Kenya and Chief Researcher of the project Prof Dr A K Fazlul Huq Bhuiyan took part in the discussion.
