Dinajpur Medical College shut for 10 days

About 300 students of Dinajpur Medical College (DMC) are on indefinite strike since April 8.

They were demanding fulfillment of their 5-point demand.

Their demands include adequate teachers, sufficient books in library, up-to-date laboratory and transport facilities.

When contact with Principal Dr Saiful Bari, he told this correspondent they had appointed two teachers including an associate professor and a lecturer in Anatomy Department. 'The lecturer already joined his duty last week while the associate professor is supposed to join his duty this week,' he said.

Meanwhile, 150 employees of the college are also on strike from April 9. They demanded payment of their four months' salary.

Another untoward incident occurred on the DMC campus on April 15 when outsiders ransacked hostels and ousted the students at about 10:30 at night. The students demanded arrest and punishment to the culprits.

Dinajpur Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) visited the spot.
